I've never been intrigued by this story. Perhaps it was because of the 1935 Clark Gable movie though I barely recall it.

Finally got around to reading the original and it's a classic well worthy of the time and the attention. Now that I've read it, I'm guessing that I should move on to The Art of Racing in the Rain but perhaps I should wait a bit. It's almost unfair to ask Garth Stein to compete with Jack London

This was a great story of a dog, but many parts were difficult/upsetting to read. I thought this was an appropriate book to read on a Saturday that started out at -14F.

This was a little rough at both the beginning and the end of the book. I read it in a day, though, and for the most part, it was a great book that was hard to stop reading. I don’t really like books that are told from the animal’s POV, but this felt different. It was easy to get invested, and I didn’t feel like the author was trying to get into the animal’s head and thoughts, which usually just seems silly and hard to relate to. I liked this a lot.
