This was an amazing book to read! Incredibly well written and insightful. I was surprised by how bold the sexual content was. It had some pretty surprising sex scenes, I can only imagine the scandal that they caused. There was also a lot of depth and thought, an examination of human sexuality and social interactions, class and gender equality, and lots of introspection. I would never consider it a "smut" novel, it was more like an in-depth, intellectual novel of society and human interactions... ...more
