I really enjoyed this book! I have been struggling my way through Emma for months, but this one was short, cute, and entertaining. It reminded me of being a teenager, reading lots of books and thinking nothing exciting ever happened to me.

Jane Austen is a brilliant genius. This is the first book she wrote, but it was the last to be published due to some mysterious snafu with an editor. Austen's wry sense of humor is really laid bare in this book- it's much less subtle than her others. She mocks gothic romances in such a clever way and makes a strong case for using realistic characters who develop psychologically across the arc of the story rather than monsters and gloomy castles and secret passages to illuminate the human experie
