I am boosting the rating up to 4 stars because I keep thinking about this book and the more I do, the more I like it. It requires a patient reader as the style is very slow and deliberate at the beginning (it's written as a series of journal entries). It has a very unusual tone—haunting, really—which will turn off some readers, but I thought it worked.
The main character reminds me of a benevolent Smeagle / Gollum of sorts.... There is a lot to take in metaphorically and the writing is ver ...more
