I just loved this book. Everything about this book. From the catty parents, to the laughs between new friends. It was just great. It moved very quickly to where if you weren't paying attention, you could end up reading this in one sitting. The narrator was awesome. My favorite character was Madeline because she was just hilarious. Even though I did spoiler this book for myself by watching the tv series first I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I got the closure that the series didn't give me. I look ...more

This book was so amazingly fantastic! What a great novel to start the year with! Even though the book focused on dark issues like child bullying, domestic violence and, of course, murder, there was also soooooo much humor in the dialogue and interactions between characters that it helped balance things out. A fun reading experience cannot be undersold. Moriarty is a master at setting a scene, winding up the characters, and letting them go. Well-played. (Looking forward to the HBO adaptation.)

This book started out slow for me and I feared it would be nothing but a stereotypical entitled white “mommy” book. Oh but it quickly turned to so much more. Laugh out loud funny skillfully mixed with seriousness of rape, domestic violence, and ironically to this review - the dangers of stereotyping!
Great read
