Set in a peaceful retirement village, the story follows four unlikely friends—Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim, and Ron—who meet weekly to solve cold cases… until a real murder lands on their doorstep.

Richard Osman’s writing is witty and charming, and the characters are what really make this book shine. Each club member brings a unique perspective and skill set to the table, and their banter is both hilarious and endearing. Shelves: fiction, mystery, older-main-character

I kept hoping it would get better so I kept reading, and then I got to a point where I realized this book wasn't going to do it for me. I begrudingly finished and hope the next book on my to read list will be better. Thursday Murder Club is a book about a bunch of rich old people in a retirement community who enjoy looking back onto unsolved crimes, and then suddenly they have actual murders happen in their community that they help solve. More than a murder mystery, this is a salute to the old(er) age. An ode to the charm, the wit, the wisdom and the resilience of old folks. It makes me almost want to grow old.
