The different personalities in this book were delightful and well written. It’s definitely a cozy mystery and somewhat laid back, but there are so many layers to unravel. I did find it a bit confusing at times because so many characters were introduced and it required a bit of work to keep everyone straight. It took awhile for me to get into the book, but I enjoyed it in the end.

I kept hoping it would get better so I kept reading, and then I got to a point where I realized this book wasn't going to do it for me. I begrudingly finished and hope the next book on my to read list will be better. Thursday Murder Club is a book about a bunch of rich old people in a retirement community who enjoy looking back onto unsolved crimes, and then suddenly they have actual murders happen in their community that they help solve. More than a murder mystery, this is a salute to the old(er) age. An ode to the charm, the wit, the wisdom and the resilience of old folks. It makes me almost want to grow old.

Only two stars from me. Not because it’s a bad book necessarily. I’m not arrogant enough to think I can critique a writers skill or technique. I give stars based on my reaction to a book, what it does to me personally. Spiritually, emotionally, intellectually, and just pure entertainment value. This book did nothing for me in any aspect. It’s quirky and somewhat fun if that’s your cup of tea but it’s also slow to start, very easy to put down and hard to pick up again. I didn’t care much about th ...more

This is just my cup of tea. So why didn't I like it? Why am I rethinking the second installment?

WAY too many characters. Too much jumping around. And there came a point where the adorable old people weren't adorable anymore. The cuteness took up too much time when all I wanted to do was know who dunnit -- and that was a disappointment -- and get it over with. ...more
