What Members Thought

It took me a minute to get the hang of Bradbury’s prose but once I did, I really enjoyed this tale of best friends Sam and Will and a very creepy carnival. I especially loved every page that included heroic Charles Holloway, Will’s “elderly” (at 54) father. There were some insightful passages of his dialogue that I am going to chew on a bit.

I thought that it was a great concept, but it was a little...odd. There is something about the writing style that was a little off-putting and took away from the plotline. The plotline itself, however, had so much potential! A circus arrives at 3am, a carousel that runs backwards, a man with the souls of people tattoo-ed all over him, it all had such a creepy feel to it! Oh dear, it was scary! Perfect Halloween story!
I love it that it was the father who was the hero of the story. I love fathers.
I love the circle story structure - the race returned everything back to normal, safe, kind and warm...
