With a few changes I could have liked this much more. But, some plot elements were completely ridiculous and some parts seemed to drag on forever.

I have been wanting to read this book for a long time as it has been on several "books to read in a lifetime" lists. With the release of the Starz series of outlander, there was even more reason to read it then watch the series. Although list as historical fiction, it borders on a romance novel. Clearly a love story, there was a good enough historical story line to not let detract from the overall "readability". It was really worth the investigate in time and I enjoyed the journey in this 1700s ...more
