This book was recommended to me by a fellow book lover and I am glad for it. Unfortunately, I have yet to read Colson Whitehead’s more famous book, The Underground Railroad. I will get there eventually!

Great storytelling and I really enjoyed the author connecting current perspective from a future character the was and reflected in the experience. Ultimately a story about redemption that occurs despite the reform school, not because of it.
Amazing historical fiction. Heartbreaking story.
