My mother told me about this book and I had also heard rave reviews from others. It was definitely a well -written story about the woman whose cancerous cells were used all over the world to advance medical science. This book gets to the heart of the story: Henrietta's life and her family.

Boy, did I have mixed feelings about this book! It was incredibly well written, and Skloot certainly put in the time and effort to research the history, but it was also sad, frightening, and endearing. It is hard to imagine the things that were considered "acceptable" in medical practice and research back then, but I was even more freaked out by what is STILL considered acceptable!
