This is a book that needed to be written. There are two facets to this: firstly the use of a sample of Henrietta's cervical cancer cells, taken without her knowledge or permission, and how they have been grown in labs and used for so much research and ultimately, so much good.
Some of the things mentioned (injecting patients with these cells without their knowledge or consent, for example) makes NZ's "Unfortunate Incident"- our own cervical cancer scandal- look like child's play. The book also a ...more
