I honest to god thought I was missing something so I went and watched some analysis videos on this book, and best I can tell I actually understood it.
I'm really hung up on the thing with the animals. I kept looking for a deeper meaning and never found one. I kept waiting for some kind of twist or revaluation. I thought there was going to be more than this weird social pressure to have a pet to prove what an empathetic person you are.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. My one criticism is not that the world Philip K Dick creates is unbelievable, but that his main character comes off as a little underdeveloped... or perhaps straight out of a 1930s spy novel...a little too film noir, I guess.
