Books with a trial always are a bit off putting for me as they seem to take the momentum out of a story. This is the reason for the four versus five star as this book was no exception to that rule.
Kya was always “on trial” by her community. This book explores how we judge and ostracize others in a very extreme way - racism, prejudice, and simply being different are all crimes that allow us to disregard the beauty that lies in others.
