Kya, known as the "marsh girl" is abandoned and left to fend for herself in the swamps of North Carolina. Different from others, she is subjected to many prejudices, and so she keeps to herself and does not trust easily. When a young man is found dead, the townspeople immediately suspect that she is to blame.
A beautifully written mystery that delves into love, loss, courage and survival, you will not want to put this book down.

Where the Crawdads Sing is a beautifully told story of Kya who is abandoned by her family at age 7 in the marshes of North Carolina and manages to raise herself with very little help.
In 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya, the so-called Marsh Girl.
I just loved the marsh setting, and also loved the atmosphere.
Part coming of age story, part mystery, and part love story.
