😍 this was so much fun! I realized I had started reading it on Nov 16, 2018, a date of which the author died just a few hours prior.
Save the 25th and 30th anniversary introduction for after you finish the book. I think it is more fun/less spoilery that way.
Very similar to the amazing movie, the book goes a bit deeper into backstory of some characters. I particularly love the whole Goldman as Morgenstern bit, and the asides within the narrative. Also the premise of "abridging" a classic to make i ...more

So, I must be one of the few people out there who doesn't love this book. I get what the author was trying to do, but it just didn't translate to a memorable or entirely enjoyable reading experience for me.
I liked the story of Buttercup and Westley (although I don't see how it translated to "true love"), Fezzik was my favorite character (a rhyming giant-too cute!) , and who wouldn't love the righteous Inigo... but it came across so jokey that I really couldn't commit myself to the story or the c ...more

I've watched the movie and it was amazing. it has a LOT of satire and irony, making fun of the traditional role of the princess and the prince, along with mocking the formulaic, villainous antagonists.
