What Members Thought

I think people like this book the same reason why people like The Devil Wears Prada. Story-wise and even character-wise it's really not that good. What might attract people to this book is a peek at how crazy rich Asian might live, with all the name-dropping of people, place, university, brand and even singlish slank and foods.

It was pretty good. It’s not the right book for me though. I could care less about fashion and all that stuff. I think the author put way too many details about all that stuff in. But some people do enjoy that, so that’s understandable. It was like reading a soap opera. Some of it was funny, some if it made you want to scream. Great characters, both the good ones and the bad. Not sure if I’ll read the rest in the series yet, maybe.

This book is a fun little soap opera romp. The second I got going on this I could NOT stop. I neeeeded to know the next nutty, dramatic thing the family members would do next.
Also, thank god for that family tree. There is a bombardment of family members, friends, family of friends, friends of family members.. It got a tad confusing of who was related to who at times... but I think that was probably the point considering the book mentions a couple times near the beginning that it’s a complicated ...more
