What Members Thought

It's Gossip Girl on steroids with a cast of Singaporean Chinese. It's a delicious read of the guilty kind. You know you are not supposed to look up to all those materialistic extravaganza, but in the end, how can you resist the wish of having your private jet, when you just cramped in economy for a 12-hour flight, followed by a nearly 10-hour domestic train ride which was supposed to be 5 hour 4 minutes long had it not for the special seasonal feature of Deutschbahn--winter suicides.

I had a hard a time getting through this book. The family tree at the beginning flew in the face of my perception of a fun read. It kind of dragged. I’m also not a fan of a built-in sequel with the teaser ending. I did, however, love the descriptions of insane wealth and did a fair share of googling locations. Basically, served as a good run-up to the movie version.

Loved it! I am a sucker for romantic stories and this one does it for me. A huge list of characters and most of them are crazy rich Asians. :-D A lot of fun.
Oliver is my favorite character. I’m pondering how I would narrow this story down for a screen play and I’ve got the major scenes laid out in my mind. I’m excited to see what they choose to do for the film.
I may have to read the other books.

Fun, trashy, fast read. One of my favorite reviewers dubbed it “Crack Lit” and I suspect that term encapsulates the trilogy (I am on Book 2 at the moment and the term definitely applies to that one too). Enjoy it for what it is - a guilty pleasure and great escape!
