This book is a wonderful and loving tribute to those cherished Gothic tales of ghosts and mysteries.
Written with a deft hand, the prose is beautiful as befits the genre's legacy, but never interferes with the act of storytelling. And, in this book, it's all for the story. A most excellent story.
If you enjoy "The Woman in White," the works of Edgar Allen Poe. If you liked "Wuthering Heights" and "Jane Eyre" well enough but couldn't hold back from rolling your eyes every so often. If you love and ...more

This book is absolutely fantastic.
Reread Dec 2024. Engaging and interesting. Sometimes a little hard to follow and I felt kind of annoyed at the twin elements (as a mother of twins it felt kind of hokey). Still, an interesting gothic read.
I loved this book! If you like Jane Eyre, read this.... This is a perfect fun read.
