What Members Thought
Sprawling epic tale of a single multi-generational family. Pachinko is a Korean gambling game in which balls bounce down a field of nails, racking up points. The game itself plays a role in the book but is also reflective of how fate pushes us in directions beyond our control - only how we respond to that push remains in our control. The book is well written in a reserved way, it's a true 4.5,making it difficult to rate.

I really loved the first half. The second half got a little muddled for me, but I still really loved the story as well as the writing style of the author. That final scene was everything.
