Outstanding on audio. 5 stars for narration, 5 for the story.

Not really a review just personal thoughts I guess. Was anyone else kind of weired out by the part where Star's dad has her recite Malcolm X philosophies over and over again? "Freedom, justice, and equality through whatever means necessary". I mean, it's a nice sentiment but the way he had her repeating it made it feel kind of sinister.

This book has drawn me in with a story that's captivating. It's classified as a Young Adult novel (I can't remember reading this genre since I was a young adult). The writing is excellent, the story is spellbinding, the subject is vitally important and the perspective is one that never gets heard. This book is outstanding!!! ...more

Loved the story, characters, dialogue. The audible version is excellent.
