What Members Thought
I kinda have mixed feelings about this one. It started out rather slow and the dialogue felt very dated with repeated catch phrases that seemed a little cheesy rather than scary. For example, "Come take your medicine" doesn't exactly fill me with fear. About halfway through the novel creepy stuff finally started happening as the hotel began to come alive. But I felt like the scariness of the novel was overshadowed by excessive swearing, weird interruptions in parentheses, and those cheesy catch

Just re read this after many years because I
plan to read Doctor Sleep sometime soonish. Enjoyed it as much as before. Scared me just as much, perhaps more.

This is my favorite Stephen King read so far. I did the read some/listen some approach, again, and the narrator for The Shining is fantastic. Great read. :)
