This was too grim a book to say I enjoyed it. However, it was thought-provoking and certainly generated a long discussion in my book discussion group. I wish I had read this a long time ago. I can see how this book has influenced a number of science fiction and children's authors whose works I've read, including Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 and Lois Lowry's The Giver, as well as movies like "THX 1138". It was interesting to wonder how the novel would have been written differently if Orwell had ...more
