In typical Jodi Picoult fashion she takes on a complicated issue and views it from every angle. In Nineteen Minutes, it was school shootings. In Small Great Things it is race. I have never thought of myself as a racist--I'm appalled by the very idea, but somehow this book made me look at myself in ways I've never looked before. She made me understand how insidious a problem race is in the world. And I feel determined to do my part to change things--even if the chance is only in myself. This is a ...more
