Shelves: read-adult-fiction, read-classics

Read it in high school and liked it very much. Just re-read it for a book discussion group, and still liked it, although I wasn't as happy with Golding's writing style this time around. I disliked the way he ends chapters so abruptly, and some of his descriptions of action left me not quite sure what was going on. I was much more struck this time also with the symbolism of the island, the pighead, and the various roles that the boys took on. I couldn't help but think of "Gilligan's Island," wher ...more
