I went into this one expecting to like it more than Assassin's Apprentice, and in the first quarter of the book that seemed like it was going to be the case. But I actually really didn't like about half of the book (probably roughly chapters 9-24?). And then I thought the ending of the book was ok. It makes me extremely curious about how the end of the trilogy is going to wrap up, but not overly so.

I finally finished this audiobook! It was a slog to get through the first 75%, but I binge-read the last 130 pages. I am so excited about the direction the last book is going to go in. I can't give it anything less than 3 stars because of the writing and characterization.

This book got me very frustrated. I don't know if that makes it good or bad. But I'm guessing that means I care for Fitz. Unfortunately I like him even though he has absolutely no forsight whatsoever! I also reckon this book could of been 100 pages shorter if the parts with Molly and Fitz were briefer. They were unnecessarily long and every meeting between them just came to the same conclusion. That conclusion always being that Fitz didn't know what to do about them(himself and Molly). Personall

Another awesome read. We see Fitz coming into his own even more in this book. I like the fact that he's represented as a person with faults who tries -and sometime fails- to make the best out of a real shitty and messed up situation.
I know we will see Molly in the next book (going to Burrich for herbs, having 'someone else' she loves). Hope things eventually work out for them at some point ...more

Wow. That ending.
The first 100 - 200 pages of the book were probably about 2 stars, the midfle bit 4 stars and the ending a solid 5 stars.
I was a bit annoyed by the slow start of the story and how a lot of the character developement of the first book seemed to have vanished.
Almost all the characters have found their way into my heart and I am excited to see where all their stories are going. Regal is a bad guy I just love to hate. He is probably almost as bad as Geoffrey.

I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I did the 1st one. It was definitely slower paced. But I loved that we got to know about the Fool. I really hate what Burrich & Chade were forced to do to save Fitz, it will be interesting to see how this will affect him in the next book. Will he retain all his human faculties or become more beast than man? Looking forward to book 3

I think I enjoyed this one even more than the first one. I would have maybe wished for a little more resolution in the ending, but there is still another book, so I'll be okay.
