DNF'ed at pg 180
I am not sure what happened here. I was LOVING the book. The daevas, djinn, ifrits, the battles and divisions between them, rhe way in which half daeva half human were mistreated...
Also, the representation of Muslim lore and all that was amazing.
But suddenly I stopped caring. I mean, considering I DNF'ed at pg 180 it took me a bit to stop caring, and I think I have some ideas as to why:

unfortunately, i didn't like the city of brass as much as i'd hoped. i really liked the general ideas of this book, and the setting was amazing too.
i had a love/hate relationship with the world building in this book. i loved how different the setting was. this isn't your typical western based fantasy world. it was so refreshing. however, i really disliked how s.a. chakraborty went over the top with everything. like, yes, i get it, can we move on now? it felt like a lot of fluff/filler content to ...more
