Definitely a pro-stoic bit of life philosophy. But I felt that this quote (p59) really hit the nail on the head- "No one is talking glass-half-full-style platitudes here." The author "dost protest too much" I think. I enjoy Ryan's reading mailing list, and he's put together a large number of interesting vignettes from impressive people. People I don't sense the content beneath the surface. ...more
