This was my fourth read and it just gets better every time. A concept of xenia is mandatory. So happy to once again step into the world of the ancient Greeks!

The pacing and storytelling does not meet modern entertainment standards, but knowing this is 2,500+ years old makes it worth reading. I listened to Stanley Lombardo narrating his translation, with introductory synopses for each chapter read by Susan Sarandon. The modern language helped hold my attention. Lombardo finds lots of different phrases for "rosy fingered dawn" and the "wine dark sea", but he does repeat other phrases verbatim as I presume the original Greek also does. Now that I know t
