The old English of this book is a small stumbling block to overcome at first. As other reviewers have suggested, it doesn’t take long for the ear to grow accustomed to it, thankfully.
As to the content - not being raised in any religion - probably a lot of the allegorical details were lost on me without having any Christian education. Some of the names did stand out to me though, like the sons of Christiana and several others as coming distinctly from history.
