Finished! What a totally strange book! This is the oldest known autobiography written in English. It was written by Margery Kempe dictated to and written down by a Catholic friar. Margery was a Catholic mystic-type woman who was very strange. She had frequent sobbing fits at mass, and was hated by many (also loved by many!). A number of times she was nearly found guilty of heresy to be burned at the stake. She left her husband for many years to live a “chaste” life after having 14 kids with him.
