What Members Thought
This book's violent start does less to set the plot in motion than to set a high-water mark of anxiety that the rest of the story never again nears (thank god). The rest of the narrative, though well-imagined and beautifully written, basically leaves the reader feeling, like the narrator, separate and aloof from the action of the plot.
