When Katy Swartz moves from Florida to West Virginia the summer before her senior year, she meets Daemon Black, her super hot and extremely arrogant neighbor. He acts like he hates her on sight, making it difficult for her to become friends with his twin sister. But his sister ignores him and Katy doesn’t care about Daemon’s ego or his ignorant comments.
I liked her for this reason. Right from the start Katy puts Daemon in his place, which not only made her relatable for me but also helped me to ...more

Reread 2: January 2019- I enjoyed this book just as much as the first time. I also hope to continue with the series as I have only read the first book. There also were parts that I picked up on this time that I did not the first.
I really enjoyed this book. I believe I will be reading the rest of this series.

While I initially thought it had a slow, slightly immature start, this book quickly morphed into a fast paced, addictive read. Perfect mix of plot, suspense, drama, and love story. So anxious to see how this story plays out!

A lot of people I follow on youtube go on about this book, and I loved The Problem With Forever so I was keen to test this out. Whilst I found the writing and just general style of the book quite simple I also read through it so quickly and had a lot of fun reading it so sometimes simple isn't always bad.

I definitely think this book is overhyped. I loved Armentrout’s Half-Blood series (even with having to overlook its similarities with Vampire Academy), but Obsidian didn’t really do it for me.
It reminded me A LOT of Twilight. I loved Twilight back when I read it in high school, but that was back before I knew what a healthy relationship was like. The male protagonist’s tendency to be hot then cold with the flip of a switch, as well as overbearing attitude with telling our main protago ...more

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It's refreshing to focus on aliens instead of vampires, werewolves, fae, etc. Who would have thought that an alien book would work? Well, it does. I loved Katy, and the parts about her book blog were so great. Daemon was so infuriatingly irritating (aaargh!), but wonderful when he needed to be. (My book included the first chapter from Daemon's point of view, and I think it helped Daemon's character a little bit.) This was a quick read for me. I'm always s

Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout is so flippin' amazing! I loved it to the moon and the back. It left me absolutely speechless. My mind is seriously blown.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of Science Fiction books, but this book is a great exception! I don't even know how to describe it.
The characters were strong and relatable, and the storyline was solid. Though, at first, I didn't find myself relating to the characters, and the plot wasn't so complex; but it changed later in the story. It got r ...more
