Ok I will admit at times I feel uncomfortable seeing reviews or even just people reading books by popular authors - STOP - dont get me wrong they can be amazing I just feel that I would be following everyone else blindly heaping praise just so I can be seen to be following the trend.

One of Neil Gaiman's many talents as an author is his ability to take characters and plot elements that would normally seem utterly creepy, and create contexts in which the reader sees them from a whole new direction altogether and they become something else entirely.

He puts this talent to good use in this story, a refreshingly different flight of fantasy in which the dead can be tender and kind, and where coming of age encompasses an epic battle between good and evil - only good doesn't always

For a book that starts out so darkly (three murders!) it was surprisingly enjoyable. The vignette-style chapters made for an easy read but not too disjointed that you forget the overall plot. Nobody Owens may have been raised in a graveyard but he could easily be any child anywhere.

The Graveyard Book is a young adult book written by Neil Gaiman, author of Coraline. Although it is a young adult book, adults will enjoy The Graveyard Book as well. The novel is about Nobody Owns a boy who is raised in a graveyard by ghosts after his parents are killed (the only 'scarey part').
