I absolutely adored this book.
It's the story of a young boy and his growing up... in a graveyard. There are several vignettes told through his life, and they all connect at the end. I love the use of the man Jacks.
I love Gaiman's story telling, and always, his voice acting for the audiobook is just awesome.
If I had a kid, this would definitely be on its bookshelf. ...more

I really enjoy this book with its wonderful cast of ghosts, ghouls, humans, vampire and most of all Bod.

Nobody Owens is adopted by the residents of a graveyard.
I think this is my favorite Gaiman so far. Bod broke my heart, Silas and Liza were solemn and quirky, Jack was frightening; and the language was simple and just about perfect, with sections I had to go back and underline so I can find them again.
Eerie and wistful and scary and ultimately uplifting -- kind of like a twisted version of Oh The Places You'll Go if Seuss had thrown in ghosts and family-killers. Recommended for everyone over 11.

Interesting story with nice illustrations. Gaiman really knows how to write a good children's book

A coming-of-age tale filled with imagination and life. From its terrifying beginning to its bittersweet end, The Graveyard Book is a delight. Nobody Owens is a sweet, perceptive and inquisitive boy and although he spends his childhood among the dead, he learns more about living than most people ever do.

Since it won so many awards last year, I figured that I better give it a try and I REALLY liked this book. I listened to the audiobook read by Neil Gaiman and it was excellent. The Graveyard Book might be a children's book but it was pretty dark in certain spots although not unlike the hints of danger and violence in the Harry Potter books.
The story begins with the murder of a family except for the baby who wanders into a graveyard. The residents of the graveyard decide to protect the baby (whom ...more

It's Neil Gaiman. What more do you need to know? It was whimsical, funny, sad, inspiring, astute, pick your adjective. Just read it.
