The Goodbye Bride by Denise Hunter – A Contemporary Romance about Finding Home and Forgiveness

She wakes in a strange place on the floor of a Portland restaurant confused about how she got there – in a wedding gown, no less! Her solution is to call Zac Callahan, the one man she does remember most vividly. But their wedding day isn’t for another several months, which means something she can’t remember has happened ...more

We all have bad days, but none of mine have been like Lucy Lovett's bad day: waking up in a strange diner with no idea how she got there, wearing a wedding dress she doesn't remember buying, and wearing white shoes she remembers not buying because they were so expensive. Now, that's a bad day.
Zac Callahan's bad day starts when he gets a telephone call from ex-fiance Lucy Lovett, the woman who ran out on him with no explaination seven months ago, just weeks before their wedding. Now she wants to ...more

Fun premise for a romance novel, former fiancé and fiancée pulled back together when she hits her head, loses mental recall of the previous seven months, including her reason for leaving him behind. Loved the chemistry between these two, both as the story unfolded from Zac and Lucy’s alternating points of view but also in brief flashbacks of their initial meeting at the roadhouse. Novel after novel, Denise Hunter crafts a truly swoon-worthy romance while respecting the boundaries of the genre an

Denise Hunter is one of my favorite authors, and I think this is the best book she has written so far. This woman really knows how to bring the passion. My heart bled for Lucy and Zac throughout this whole book. And then at the end, that message from God comes in and gives you something to think about long after the story is over. I love it.

The Goodbye Bride is another wonderful read to add to your Denise Hunter library. One of the things I always enjoy about Hunter's books is that her heroes hold a specific Christ-like quality, their love somehow heals, woos, and transforms the heroine.

This is the second book in Denise Hunter's Summer Harbor series, however, it can be read as a stand-alone. This series follows the Callahan brothers and I enjoyed the banter and relationship between the three of them. I found Zac and Lucy to be very relatable and I was torn between wanting Zac and Lucy to get back together, but also wanting Lucy to get her memories back. In the Christian romance genre, I find that Denise Hunter tries to push the envelope, and includes more make-out scenes than m

If I could give this book a million stars, I would. The mystery aspect woven into this Christian romance kept me up late, turning the pages, unable to put this novel down. The characters, the setting, the heartbreaking circumstances, this was sheer perfection and a book I’ll recommend to everyone. #TeamZac all the way!
