I have never been that conversant with the romance genre, but a friend with very good and broad taste in literature gave me this novel a number of years ago to take on my honeymoon and I enjoyed the hell out of it. It's a historical romance/mystery with good steamy sex scenes and an intelligent, educated heroine.
