Obviously, the new trend in YA literature is dystopian. It’s impossible to read Matched, Delirium, Hunger Games, Bumped, etc., without comparing them, and I’m sure that I’ll be sick of the trend soon enough as it gets more repetitive. Matched didn’t really break any new ground—there’s more than a few echoes of The Giver—but it was executed very well. Cassia’s character rang true, and her actions were consistent—too often in these books, the character spends the first third of the book in constan ...more

Back when this book first came out it got so much hype. It was the next Twilight meets Hunger Games, and I couldn't wait to read it myself. But as each additional book of the trilogy came out people seemed to enjoy the books less and less, and the hype slowly dyed down. Despite this, I've been wanting to read this since before it was released, although given the way people seem to feel about the book lately I went in with a bit of a hesitation.

I enjoyed the dystopian setting.
I could have done without the love triangle, teen romance, thing.
That said, I would like to know how the rest of the story turns out.

One of the hottest YA books this season, I like it well enough, but did not find it as compelling as say: The Hunger Games or The Giver.

I really, really enjoyed this! I have kind of enjoyed Condie's books in the past, but this was one of her best. I appreciated the depth of the main characters and watching Cassia come to an awareness on her own. Can't wait for book two! ...more

Reminded of Hunger Games without the intensity and with more support from the teen's families. I liked it - but didn't love it - it didn't really go in depth enough - but maybe that's just b/c it's a teen genre?
