Having reread Deep Wizardry and just read Games Wizards Play, I'm absolutely fascinated by how she has managed to keep all the threads running from this very first book, which is . . . what, forty years old now? This is the first face off with the Lone Power, the repercussions of it are still coming. VERY different from what I'd expected. I'd expected a light-hearted, humorous book ala Handbook for Witches. What I got was a fascinating but rather dark book about two kids learning how to become wizards and in the process having to save the world from a terrible danger. At the very end of the book, Christian undertones shone through and suddenly put the book in a very different light to me.

I just bought this and haven't read it yet, but let me say these things about the ebook before I forget:
eBook: International Edition, DRM-free, with a cover. I wouldn't have bought it otherwise, but I had to run it through Calibre's conversion tool (epub to epub) before it would work on my Sony Reader. Something about the cover wouldn't let me page past it. ...more
