I'm kind of torn about this one. On one hand, it was a fun page-turner, with fairly vivid characters, some fun history, a smidge of time-travel without over-doing that element (I kept being afraid she would start hopping back and forth). It's also got that epic sprawl thing going on (although a touch of editing down wouldn't have hurt) so that you can read it quickly and still have it last for a while. I won this book from Goodreads! I'd heard a lot of positive reviews, but didn't think I'd care much for it. I took a chance when I saw it in the Goodreads giveaways, figuring that if I won it and didn't like it, I wasn't out money, a trip to the library, or a PBS credit. I'm glad I did!

I have read all nine of the Outlander books, twice, once in Ebook form and once in print. I have recently finished the audiobook, read by Kristen Atherton, who also played Jamie's sister Jenny in the later TV episodes.
Wow. Hearing it in audio was magical, completely immersive. Atherton worked a different voice for each character seemingly without effort. I know this book well, yet I heard different things and different moments in the audio. It was brilliant.

I have this habit of coming back to old previously read books and trying to see if I still enjoy them as much as I did then. This was the first one of an 8 book ebundle of the series to this point and am glad to see I still enjoy it very much.
