This may be one of those rare books that is actually BETTER in the audio version.
I know who Tina Fey is, I can recognize her face or voice, and I like her, but I've never been a loyal viewer of SNL or 30 Rock or anything else she was involved in, so I went into this with no preconceived notions.
In the end, this one was a real mixed bag. There were chapters that had me laughing uproariously, others when my mind would wander, still others that made me think "that's a great point! I need to remembe ...more

A word of warning here for perspective male readers of this book--it's total chick lit. Not much of interest for guys here. It's not really a biography either, rather a series of biographical sketches and rants of personal philosophy. All in all, a rather self-effacing book. It's almost as if she wants the reader to dislike her, but, yet, respect her as both a woman and a writer. But she makes it difficult. Tina Fey's memoir is a little uneven at times, and not the hilarious comedic thing I thought it would be - but this was before I learned that no, Tina Fey is not a standup comic, she's more of a writer and improv comedian. A quick breezy, funny read. I laughed out loud and chortled under my breath at her anecdotes and lists. Did you know male comedy writers tend to litter their offices with cups of urine? Yeah. Anyway, cute, feminist and funny, but I didn't feel like there was much substance to it. It read like a book written because she's famousish right now and they wanted her to capitalize on that, not because she had a story that needed to be told.

I really wanted to LOVE this. I did like it, but didnt love it. And even laughed out loud at it a few times...but I wanted more. I kind of felt like it jumped all over the place and just scratched the surface on everything. So you really didn't learn much about Tina... easy read, read the entire thing on a cross country plane trip, one way. So about 4 hours...

I started reading this aloud with Kelly, taking turns reading each chapter, and I think Fey's voice was lost with our narration. I revisited it on audio book, and I'm so glad I did. Her delivery adds so much to the narrative, and the audio excerpts from SNL episodes where Fey impersonates Palin are an added bonus.
