Tried too hard, especially with the Big Twist.
What could have been an interesting query into what happened to the Ashas, whether or not they were killed, and what the story behind their relationship with Ben Elmys really is turned into a mess towards the end. The Twist just made some of the earlier events too neat, an easy way out for the author rather than creating a real solution.
