Loved it. A friend had told me it was his favorite Zadie Smith and after not being able to even read 50 pages of NW, I'm so glad I picked up On Beauty. I found Howard detestable, but well-drawn as a foil.

This was a book I stole time to read during the day. It was not merely reserved for bed time. I found myself caring about the characters and their situations. It has flaws as a novel, but overall it pulled me along and kept me engaged, and I found the ending to be satisfying (this, I have realized, is important to me.)
I liked this much, much better than White Teeth, which I couldn't even finish. I can't say this book rang entirely true but I enjoyed it nontheless. Also, I like anyone who liked EM Forster as much as Zadie Smith does. That's just really cool.
