I loved this book! It is well-paced and give such a sense of its place and time. I'd never read something that made me feel so much of what it was like to live in the midst of the AIDS crisis. I was in suspense the whole time -- Would Yale succeed in getting Nora's art donation? Would he get AIDS? Would Fiona find her daughter? Was anyone from the 1985 story going to show up alive in the 2015 story? -- yet at the same time the book felt very atmospheric and character-driven, never the kind of su

What a beautiful powerhouse of a book. When I first read that it was about the AIDS epidemic I thought, maybe I wouldn’t read it, too depressing. I’m so glad that I didn’t heed my initial twinge. The book is full of life, painful and sad sometimes, horrified and angry…oh, just so many feelings. The author brings the characters to life, full of their very human flaws and foibles, never pedantic.
