My son and I have recently started listening to Beverly Cleary's Ramona books on our drives. He is really enjoying them and so am I, since they bring back fond memories of childhood. I have bought him many of the Cleary books, and saw Ellen Tebbits in his room and decided to read it again. It's not as enjoyable for me as it was when I read it as a child; there's something about it that pales in comparison to the more humorous and rich Ramona books.

I think this is one of Beverly Cleary's lesser known books, but I remember enjoying it. It's quite an ode to friendship. I remember the two best friends got matching dresses, although only one of them looks good in hers.

A cute book for 3rd-4th graders
Although Ellen Tebbits and her new best friend Austine meet in ballet class, not much of the story revolves around dance. Still, a cute book.
