I loved Some Girls Are, and reading it made me excited for Cracked Up to Be, because I figured Summers can do no wrong when it comes to gritty YA contemps. Cracked Up To Be gave me two things I expected: a quick read and a main character that’s hard to like. Unfortunately, Summers's debut failed to engross me the way Some Girls Are did.

Totally unsatisfying. I don't mind parker being unlikable. But it was for no reason and she was obviously always like that even before Jessie. She in no way earned her pass to healing and a happy ending. Her fool logic to get everyone to leave her alone was absurd and the growth such as it is was too little in the wake of everything she let happen and unconvincing besides.
