If you are looking for a "feel good" book, this is NOT the one for you.
In fact, the first 100 pages were brutal. It took me way longer then it should have to read through it because I had to stop often to process my emotions and debate whether I wanted to continue to subject myself to this depressing journey. Tragedy, grief, motherhood horrors, guilt; I contemplated giving up on this book frequently (1 star)

I love Jane Hamilton! I loved The Book of Ruth and this novel is also really great. It's very sad, but moving and realistic. Hamilton’s writing style is so wonderful and thoughtful.
