Oh, Harper Lee Donna Tartt, where does one go when one writes the perfect book on one's first outing?
As with The Little Stranger this isn't a bad book. In fact, it's a good book. A long book, and some could have been cut, but probably not much. I appreciated it, but couldn't love it, and I so wanted to love it. I loved Popper, though and I was a big fan of Boris. Loved reading this book...got caught in the story and the characters...a rollicking, tumbling read...the only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is the length...it started to feel a it cumbersome....not that I dislike long books, per se....but, this one could have been trimmed without taking away from the glorious, expansive story.

I loved the characters in "The Goldfinch", and Tartt's ability to create a compelling, believable story is second to none. The ending felt weak, and very happily-ever-after, but I still loved the book.
