Almost the entire time I was reading this, I felt like I knew what the big "shock" would be and when it came, I was like, well that wasn't such a shock now was it. Who couldn't see that coming. I was still very much enjoying the characters and the story. And then....THE SHOCK!! My jaw literally dropped and of course tears filled my eyes. I wish it had happened a little bit earlier in the story so we'd get more of the aftermath. Very few books truly surprise me and this one definitely did!

I like Jane Green's writing and the books Ive read. I go in expecting to be entertained, and to feel something, usually warm fuzzy, but not always. A good story, well that's an expectation too. And she never disappoints. I liked Falling, and was surprised at a few twists but I did enjoy the story quite a bit, enough to want to continue reading her books, especially the older ones that I never got around to reading.

As I read this, I was already composing my review. Her best ever, I thought, and I will recommend it to all the members of the Great Escape book club as a companion to this year's selection "Quiet" by Susan Cain. And then pow, right in the kisser, Alice! The ending. I hated the ending. I wonder if anyone else felt the same way?
