Just reread this--it's still terrific. Please ignore the hokey cover. A quest fantasy that isn't based on Lord of the Rings and its zillion offspring. It's got a hero, an enchanted sword, a heroine in jeopardy, but from there on out the novel takes its own path. The best part is all the gods, inhabiting just about everything, some friendly, some indifferent, some hostile. It feels like this is really how people used to view the world.
